Can you smell fall? Chatting with a friend of mine, we talked about the wonderful things of fall, and how it is our favorite season. Why? The weather change preapres you for all the changes to come. Foods change; no more watermelon and BBQ's, rather pies, roasts, and baked veges. Clothing changes as we put more on to stay warm as the temp. cools down (although some of us have more "meat" that we do not need to layer just yet!). The new season brings a new spirit as we prepare for the busy-ness of holidays, birthdays, school, parties, and breaks to enjoy with our families and friends. Just love this season!

Now, the fall is much different throughout the US. Here, we get a little cooler weather, but back east and throughout the mid-west, the temp change is much more drastic. The environmental change is widely noticed and expected as the leaves change color and leave the trees bare. In some areas lakes and rivers freeze, animals will hibernate, and school is canceled because of blizzards! This sounds unreal for this SoCal girl but I have witnesses and have seen pics, so I know its true!

Isn't life the same? We go through seasons of warmth, we may feel under fire or maybe the prompting of the Holy Spirit to shed pounds of baggage or burdens, bitterness, and other things that hinder your growth. Things can often feel uncomfortable at times but we recognize the need to press on without retreating to a cooler or easier place.

Fall tends to be more confortable and a time of rest. We enjoy all we are seeing and doing. The emotional or circumstancial weather is calmer than usual. We are enjoying trying new things and just want to smile alot as the joy of what is coming. A new car, new baby, or just a time where everything is going right could fit in this season.

Now winter is cold. Again difficult to press on, but you know you must in order to succeed.  This season has lots of "I'm sick of this" moments and maybe even points where you are ready to give up, but you continue on.This season has more retreat times, but when you come out of this season, you are stronger than ever and ready for the coming change.

Spring is a great season of growth. But in order to have this growth and maturity, the other seasons were necessary. These are the times we become thankful for all the other seasons that have finally brought us to where we have arrived. New situations are introduced in this season that help you to change personally for a time or permanently. Thank God for a noticable growth! It makes going through all other seasons worth it!

So then, when we are contemplating this amazing change in weather, environment, clothing, situation, emotions, etc., let us first think how awesome for us to have such an awesome designer, GOD", who allows us to experience HIS amazing creations firsthand. Second, how awesome HE is to allow us to go through seasons rather than a lifetime of heat or cold!! He knows how much we can handle. He knows how long our personal "seasons" will be and will not allow it a day longer than what is necessary to get us to a "Spring". Allowing circumstances, rest, regrowth, discomfort, pain, heat, joy, and cold and more makes us who we are. It builds our character according to the Bible in Romans 5. Without the change of seasons, we would never have fresh flowers or the fresh smell of rain. Our hearts would never have a feeling of renewal and appreciation for the time we have gone through if we never had changes.

What season are you going through? Are you praising the Lord for it despite its severity? Or are you forgetting who the creator of the seasons is because things are feeling cool and cozy?  Thankfully, Our Savior stays the same and does not change styles as our clothing does. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever according to Hebrews 13:8. But our prayers should change. As seasons change, reevaluate where you are, put on the proper clothing, and ask the Lord for guidance and help through it. He will never leave you! thank you Lord!!
