Scrap metal or Gold??

I have been trying to read through Jeremiah for about 4 months, ever since my husband and I watched the movie...Jeremiah.
I have only gotten through ch 6.
I keep forgetting what I have read and go back and read it again and again.
Jeremiah is at such a loss as he is talking to the people about God's plans.
He is speaking to them about repentance, how they need to do it, how they r hard hearted and refusing to, and what disaster awaits them because of their disobedience and lies.
It breaks my heart to read because it is so fitting for today.
How man is chastened, how we watch various forms of disaster hit and yet they do not repent. How all mankind is the same, thinking only of the present and never reflecting on the examples of the past or the possibilities of the future.

The Lord shares with Jeremiah, if there are any righteous among you I will save the nation but there are none.

It is this last verse in ch 6 that made me write this thought...
I will label them `Rejected Silver' because I, the LORD, am discarding them."

Can you believe that??

God made Jeremiah the official metal tester or metal impurity detector!! GOD wanted the people to be tested by Jeremiah so they could be refined of all impurities...but after a long hard look...not only could they not be refined but they were labeled...rejected....
As I am having trouble sleeping, I am thinking of people becoming rejected...
Not that GOD would no longer love them if they returned to HIM but rather...they have rejected HIM so long, lied about HIM, made false testimonies, false prophecies, etc. God quits searching for righteousness because there is none. The people of Jeremiah's time, just like today, have hardened their hearts to the love of Jesus.

How can we be righteous?

So what can we do to ensure we will not be scrapped like the people of Jeremiah's day? well, the Bible says none are righteous, nor will they ever be. We can do nothing to earn our way to heaven. But the Bible does give su the way to get there. We need to recognize that we are sinners...people who have broken God's law...and that we need a Savior to remove these sins so that we can enter the perfect kingdom of heaven. We then need to believe and trust in HIM fully and read our Bible so we can learn more about the heart of God. So we may know HIM and know HIS desires for us. It is here we will learn that HIS mercy and grace will cover all the sin and impurities. Only the shedding of Jesus' blood would ever be able to make us pure...Only truly following the Lord, not just talking about it, but actually reading and praying daily for God's wisdom and direction to be accomplished in your life will allow you to be cleaned and purified. How simple...

I never want to be scrap metal
I would never want anyone I know...or anyone at all to be scrap metal...
Ultimately it is the decision of the person to decide whether they want to be purified into Gold or become scrap...

Let us pray our luv 4 Jesus shines...That we may shine like Gold...
